Annon

Annon

I borrowed a knitting book from the library (looking for sock patterns other than mine) & Annon found a crochet pattern in it that she liked & wanted to try.  This is the result.  It’s all her own work ~ I just provided the yarn!

I started work on this Killarney Cloak 4 years ago when I was looking for a new home, picked it up, put it down, picked it up to travel, put it down, moved house, picked it up, put it down, made lots of other stuff.  Along the way I changed the printed pattern drastically, making it full-length & very full, as opposed to short & not full.  Annon is my long-suffering model as I use her to see how it’s growing.  Unfortunately, now I’ve come to the end of the yarn I didn’t box up somewhere in the container & so I’m having to leave it until I can find the rest.  It’s made from crochet squares & triangles on a 4mm hook (sorry, I don’t know the American for 4mm ?F).  I have none idea just how many of each I’ve made, maybe 1 day I’ll count them…

I only taught myself to crochet in my cack-handed 1-handed way after a friend told everybody that I was good at it.  At the time I’d never crochet ed at all & had no hooks.  Because of my strangeness, I cannot teach anyone else to crochet, much to Annon’s regret ~ I can help decipher stitches, but cannot teach.  My 1-handedness means I have to knit like everyone else now, so I taught her that, but crochet she had to learn at school.

Duckie at http://theduckherder.blogspot.com/ asked me to post a picture of the partially completed cloak, so here it is:
