Hawthorn Blossom (here the Hawthorn is known as the Whitethorn). The Hawthorn is also known as May, so this is my younger daughter’s tree as 1 of her names is Valmai meaning May Flower.

 

April 12 Photo ~ Easter Sunday Walk

Annon & I got up early on Easter Sunday to go out for a walk to the hill with the standing stone.  We were hoping to watch the sunrise from the top of the hill, but it was misty & grey.  I get up every year to watch the sunrise on Easter Sunday, but since I’ve been in Ireland there has been no visible sunrise, just lightening of the sky & world.

When I lived at home with my parents, I’d go out to collect  small bunch of wildflowers for my mother until the picking of wildflowers became illegal, then I collected some of the Primeroses & Violets from our garden for her, but I’d still go out early & walk.

In previous yerars here, I’ve gone onto Culcán or up behind my house, but this year we decided to climb the hill across the valley & see the standing stone again.   Annon loved doing this, evren though usually it’s quite a struggle to excavate her  from her bed!

We made it to the top, but there was nothing to see as it was still all grey  & misty with a slight drizzle.

I borrowed a knitting book from the library (looking for sock patterns other than mine) & Annon found a crochet pattern in it that she liked & wanted to try.  This is the result.  It’s all her own work ~ I just provided the yarn!

Annon announced late in the evening that HER art homework was for ME to draw her… The idea, apparently, is that she then draws herself in her art lesson & compares the 2 pictures ~ that’s her story anyway. I was tired & wanted to go to bed, so did this quick sketch, which turned out better than I hoped

I wrote this entry, previewed it & posted it last night, then this morning most of it had disappeared . Here goes again:

bem & Chut'Chut'

Chut’Chut doesn’t like being picked up, but he loves the cuddles & attention he gets when he has a lap to sit on. He became the favourite after his brother was sold. bem is a medical student & lives in a city, so in would be impractical for her to take him home, though I think they were tempted!

If you’re wondering why he’s Chut’Chut’, Чуть-Чуть is Russian for “a little bit” & he has a little bit of white on him & was the shyest & smallest of Piri’s puppies. If I name my animals, they end up with strange names, but if they come named or Annon names them, then they have more normal names! Pups are given identifiers rather than names, so they can be renamed on being sold: this litter contained Girly, ‘Splorer, White Tip & Chut’Chut’

A Picture a Day? January 1

I would like to have posted a picture a day this year as far as I can with connection problems & the odd time away from my home.

I shall try to catch up & post 1 (or so) a day from now on~ vodafone modem permitting ~ this is more to try to get me to take a picture (at least) a day, so I have plenty to choose from when the time comes to arrange next year’s calendar from this year’s photos.

These are my elder daughter, son in law & younger daughter as the Year turned.  For the first time since Annon & I moved into this house, we could use the sitting room as it should be used.  That post behind the sofa is holding part of the floor to my bedroom up.  Eventually, there will be a staircase in this room to go up to my loft bedroom & 1 of the newel posts will extend upwards to take the weight of the corner of the floor as that part does not extend into the wall.

bem spent quite a bit of her time with us with a puppy in her arms.  This one is ‘Splorer (the first in the litter to start exploring ) who was sold later this day, much to hers & Annon’s disappointment.  ‘Splorer now lives not far away with his sister (they’re going to be neutered as soon as they’re old enough) & is called Oaty, sister being called Cornflake…

bem is a medical student, living & studying in a city, & her husband is allergic to fur.  He was surprised that these pups didn’t start off his severe allergic reactions ~ we think that they may have their mother’s hair type, even if they look & feel nothing like my “ursa minor” Bedlington Terrier (ursa major being the Wolfie).  Beddies are a breed suitable for those for whom ordinary dogs cause reaction problems ~ Yorkies are another breed & my parents have those.

is hosting a Fun Monday ~ I’ve never taken part in one properly before, but it gives me an opportunity to share a very special photo of Loyko (Sergey Erdenko) & my then 4-yr old daughter which evokes so many memories for me. I have this man, his cousin, band & family to thank for where & who I am now. Trio Loyko gave me the courage to sing in public 16 years after an RTA took my music from me. They gave me back myself & basically my life instead of an existence.

The picture was taken after the last UK concert of Trio Loyko as they were then & shows Sergey & Annon before he carried her around for ages talking to his fans & telling everyone that the blondie sleeping in his arms was his daughter. You can’t see his jet blaxck hair in the picture! Annon’s blood father regarded her as an inconvenience & ignored us at concerts he was involved in. The full acceptance & love she was shown by this man sustained her in what happened next in her young life.
